Anthony Boyle, recognized for his performance in 'House of Guinness' and slated to appear as Sam Bankman-Fried in Netflix's 'The Altruists,' has been cast as the lead in the forthcoming Sky Original series, 'Charmer.' This eight-part production, currently in development, is a collaboration between Working Title Television and Story Films, and will also feature the talents of Siena Kelly, Connor Swindells, and Sophie Wilde.
'Charmer' chronicles the lives of a driven group of London professionals in their thirties, whose world is disrupted by Ryan, a character played by Boyle. Ryan is a hired 'seducer' whose role is to test the loyalty of partners of affluent clients. As a wedding approaches, his professional detachment is jeopardized when a particular assignment takes a personal turn. The narrative explores the danger of Ryan violating his foundational professional rule: never to fall in love. The series, written and conceived by Thomas Aspell, will be helmed by director Elliot Hegarty, known for his work on 'Rivals,' 'Ted Lasso,' and 'Bad Education.' Melissa Bubnic, Constance Cheng, and Anna Ssemuyaba are contributing additional scripts, with Dionne Edwards directing the second block of episodes. The cast is further enriched by Sam Delich, Vivian Oparah, Neil Maskell, Karan Gill, Sophie Simnett, and Polly Walker.
