Bon Appétit magazine is set to host its inaugural Pantry Awards in the summer of 2026, a groundbreaking event designed to spotlight exceptional new food and beverage items. Over the course of the year, the editorial team meticulously samples a wide array of snacks, drinks, and essential kitchen ingredients, rigorously testing and debating their merits to identify products worthy of a spot in your home. This new award aims to formally acknowledge and celebrate these culinary discoveries.

Bon Appétit's Pantry Awards: A New Benchmark for Culinary Excellence

The culinary experts at Bon Appétit are continuously searching for the most delightful and innovative food products entering the market. To ensure a comprehensive review process, brands were invited to submit their products for consideration. The awards sought to highlight advancements, such as nutrient-enriched pasta or novel functional ingredients in protein bars. Brands were encouraged to share their unique contributions to the food landscape, demonstrating how their offerings elevate everyday dining.

For a product to be considered for the Bon Appétit Pantry Awards, it had to have been introduced to the market between January 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026. Furthermore, products were required to be readily available for purchase within the United States at the time of submission. The initial submission period concluded on May 31, 2026. Following this, brands whose products were selected for further evaluation were contacted directly to provide samples for the editorial team's rigorous testing. To maintain fairness and efficiency, unsolicited samples were not accepted for review. Brands with multiple flavors within a single product line were instructed to submit them collectively via one submission form.

The awards encompassed a diverse range of categories to capture the breadth of the modern pantry. These included various snacks, from chips to pretzels; a wide selection of condiments and sauces, such as hot sauces, pasta sauces, and spreads; essential pantry staples like oils, grains, canned goods, and spices; an assortment of sweets, including chocolates and baked items; and an exclusive category for non-alcoholic beverages. Importantly, the editorial team also welcomed submissions for products that might not precisely fit into these predefined categories, reserving the right to determine their eligibility after a thorough review. Both perishable and frozen items were also eligible for consideration.

The introduction of the Bon Appétit Pantry Awards signifies a fresh commitment to recognizing innovation and quality in the food industry. By engaging directly with brands and subjecting products to stringent editorial review, these awards are poised to become a trusted guide for consumers seeking the best new additions for their kitchens. This initiative not only celebrates culinary excellence but also fosters a dynamic dialogue between producers and discerning palates, ultimately enriching the gastronomic landscape for everyone.
