In a strategic move poised to redefine its presence in the American sports streaming arena, DAZN, a leading global sports streaming service, has finalized the acquisition of EverPass Media. This significant transaction represents DAZN's most substantial venture into the U.S. market to date, signaling an aggressive push to dominate the commercial sports distribution landscape. EverPass Media, co-founded by the NFL's 32 Equity and RedBird Capital Partners, brings with it a coveted portfolio of commercial broadcast rights for major sporting events, including the highly popular NFL Sunday Ticket, alongside content from prominent platforms such as Peacock, Netflix, Paramount, and Apple. This acquisition aims to leverage EverPass's established infrastructure and relationships to deliver premium sports content to a vast network of commercial venues, including bars and hotels, thereby greatly expanding DAZN's reach and market share.

EverPass Media, established a few years prior, has been instrumental in securing and distributing commercial rights for a wide array of top-tier sports content. Its operational model focuses on selling these rights and providing the necessary technological backbone to transmit live sporting events to various commercial establishments. Noteworthy investors in EverPass have included TKO, further underscoring the value and strategic importance of its assets. While the specific financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the integration of EverPass into DAZN’s ecosystem is expected to create a formidable entity in the sports media sector.

DAZN, which has historically maintained a strong global footprint with a particular emphasis on boxing in the U.S., is now pivoting towards a more diversified strategy within the American market. Recent months have seen DAZN actively expanding its commercial offerings, notably by securing local streaming rights for iconic teams like the New York Knicks and Yankees, with further expansions into other local sports markets anticipated. The EverPass acquisition, however, provides an immediate and substantial scaling of DAZN's commercial operations. This integration will also see RedBird, TKO, and the NFL transition into minority shareholders of the newly combined entity, aligning their interests with DAZN’s broader commercial vision.

Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN, emphasized the strategic rationale behind the acquisition, highlighting EverPass Media's proven commercial distribution platform, its extensive network of relationships with U.S. venues, and its attractive portfolio of premium rights. Segev articulated that this move positions DAZN to cater to a diverse clientele in the U.S., ranging from individual sports enthusiasts utilizing the DAZN application to commercial venues seeking superior viewing experiences for their patrons. This holistic approach aims to solidify DAZN's standing as a comprehensive sports content provider.

Echoing this sentiment, Hans Schroeder, NFL executive vice president of media distribution, expressed enthusiasm for the expanded partnership, noting the acquisition's potential to enhance the NFL Sunday Ticket experience within the commercial marketplace. Schroeder underscored the collective goal of broadening the reach of commercial NFL Sunday Ticket and deepening fan engagement in communal viewing settings. Gerry Cardinale, founder of RedBird, also commented on the transaction, explaining that EverPass was conceived to address the evolving landscape of sports content distribution, particularly the shift towards streaming platforms while many businesses still rely on traditional methods. He believes EverPass's purpose-built streaming platform will serve as a cornerstone for DAZN's commercial endeavors and its expansion across the U.S., with plans to scale the EverPass business globally.

This strategic acquisition by DAZN is set to significantly bolster its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving U.S. sports media landscape. By integrating EverPass Media’s robust commercial distribution capabilities and extensive rights portfolio, DAZN is well-positioned to offer an unparalleled sports viewing experience to a broader audience, from individual fans to large commercial establishments, thereby solidifying its status as a major player in the global sports streaming industry.
