The development team has recently declared its intention to abstain from utilizing AI in the production of the follow-up to their 2024 action role-playing game, drawing inspiration from renowned director Christopher Nolan's methodology.

Addressing queries on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, Yan Qi, the art director and co-founder of Game Science, responded to a fan's question regarding whether AI could accelerate the development of 'Black Myth: Zhong Kui'. Qi stated that the team would consciously avoid AI-generated elements during both the design and asset creation stages. He clarified that this stance is not born out of opposition to the technology itself, but rather a commitment to their established creative principles, drawing an analogy to a traveler who chooses to rest at an inn rather than rushing to catch the last train. This sentiment resonates with earlier comments from Beth Park, lead performance director for the 'Black Myth' series, who remarked in 2024 that AI diminishes the "human, chaotic emotion" inherent in artistic endeavors. The original 'Black Myth: Zhong Kui' was unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live in 2025, with no release window yet announced for its sequel, reinforcing the studio's patient approach.

Game Science's decision to eschew AI, and their admiration for Christopher Nolan's work, highlights a belief in the enduring value of human craftsmanship and a deliberate rejection of rapid technological trends.
