In 2021, while residing in Los Angeles, distinguished jeweler Presley Oldham embarked on his first dates with Tyler Paige, who is now his fiancé. Oldham fondly recalls attending a rave called A Club Called Rhonda with Paige, an event that, ironically, led to both contracting COVID-19. Fast forward to the present summer, the couple has established deep roots in New York, where they now reside in the serene upstate town of Kinderhook. Here, Oldham, a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, manages his fine jewelry brand. Meanwhile, Paige holds positions as a professor at Pratt and a technical director for Linked By Air, a design and technology studio based in Brooklyn. Oldham notes, "We both work from home quite a bit." He expresses his long-held desire for the tranquility of nature, cherishing the quiet mornings and the sounds of birds, a stark contrast to the bustling city life of Los Angeles or New York.

The peaceful, natural environment away from the clamor of urban centers prompted the couple to consider marriage. This past summer, Oldham felt an undeniable urge to propose. He began seriously contemplating the idea at the start of the year, influenced by turning 30, purchasing a home, and the current political climate. Last month, Oldham proposed to Paige during a hike at Solstice Canyon in Los Angeles, the city where their paths first crossed. Oldham found the location particularly fitting, as during the COVID-19 lockdown, trips to the Malibu beach were one of their few permissible activities. He asked for Paige's hand in marriage at the summit of the mountain, and they spent the remainder of the day relaxing by the beach. Oldham fondly describes it as a "perfect day." Paige's initial reaction was one of surprise, as he reportedly asked, "For real?"

Oldham explains, "It became a way for us to say 'I love you' without having to say it."

Despite the challenge, crafting a ring for his beloved was a deeply rewarding experience, now prompting Oldham to contemplate designing his own engagement ring, playfully suggesting he might need a "daytime ring, and a nighttime ring."

Oldham describes their impending marriage as a "nice affirmation of our love for each other, and to get to share that with the people that we love." Paige beautifully articulates the ease and synchronicity of their partnership: "Life is smoother with Presley... He knows when I need to be challenged, and when I need to be reassured." He concludes, "Sometimes I think we take turns supporting each other—but actually, I think it's more accurate to say it's more simultaneous than that."
