This philosophy is vividly showcased in "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups," Geetu Mohandas's gangster epic featuring Yash, slated for global release on August 26. Mishra contributed four compositions to the six-track album, sharing credits with Ravi Basrur, Tanishk Bagchi, and Faheem Abdullah. This project marks his initial collaboration with Mohandas and Yash, a partnership he characterizes as a deep creative bond built on mutual trust rather than a focus on individual achievements. Mishra expresses his satisfaction with collaborators who inspire his best work, highlighting the journey they've shared and the magic created.
A prime illustration of this profound trust is "Tabaahi," the inaugural single from the film, which Mishra considers its emotional core. Co-written by Raj Shekhar, with Mishra handling composition and vocals, the song was tasked with introducing an entire cinematic universe before any visual footage was released. He describes "Tabaahi" as a tune about devastation disguised as affection, or perhaps the inverse. The profound impact of two individuals colliding, he explains, mirrors the grand scope of the world Mohandas constructed on screen, with the musical arrangement meticulously aligning with her vision. Mishra challenges the notion that romance and darkness are incongruous in "Toxic," asserting that true love often flourishes in the direst circumstances, which informed the creation of "Tabaahi."
